The Atlanta Braves have a golden opportunity to send themselves into the National League Championship Series this Tuesday night. All the Braves need is a win in Game 4 after taking Game 2 (3-0) and Game 3 (3-0). But of course, that’s going to be easier said than done against a desperate Milwaukee Brewers squad. With that said, it’s now time to read our Brewers-Braves prediction and preview.

Here’s how the bookmakers have set the lines for this Brewers-Braves NLDS Game 4 matchup.

Under 8.5 runs (+100)

Why the Brewers Could Cover

The Brewers’ backs are against the wall. They will have to win on the road to extend their season and play another game at home. They have not announced a starting pitcher as of this writing, but the consensus is that it’s going to be Eric Lauer, who’ll be taking the mound first for Milwaukee in Game 4. Lauer hasn’t seen action yet this postseason. His last start was during an 8-6 road loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers (Oct. 1) in which he didn’t get a decision after allowing five earned runs on six hits in five innings of work. He was solid back in September, though. It was his best month of the regular season, as he went 3-0 with a 1.15 ERA and a .133 OBA in five starts.

Atlanta’s right-handed hitters have made their presence felt in this series, and Lauer could be the man to tame them. He ended the regular season with a wOBA of .278 against righties. But of course, Lauer and the Brewers’ pitching stuff need some runs to support them. The Brewers bats gave gone silent in this series but will have an opportunity to wake up against Atlanta’s probable Game 4 starter in Huascar Ynoa, whom they tagged for five runs on nine hits in a 10-9 home win back in May.

Why the Braves Could Cover

Up a game, in the series, the Braves can try to start Hunter Ynoa and let Charlie Morton rest some more. Ynoa went 4-6 with a 4.05 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 18 starts back in the regular season, but Atlanta fans can feel more confident once they consider the fact that the 23-year-old Puerto Rican has been impressive at home. In nine starts back in the regular season at Truist Park, Ynoa put together a 3-3 record and an admirable 2.88 ERA and .182 OBA.

Atlanta has not allowed a run in the last two games, and Ynoa’s positive trend when pitching at home can be taken as a sign that it’s going to be another quiet outing for the Milwaukee hitters. The Brewers are 0 for 16 through three games in the series when there are runners in scoring position. Offense has been less of a problem for Atlanta in this series, and Ynoa will be counting on the Braves’ bats to come alive again. Joc Pederson has been hot, so far in the NLDS round. He is 3 for 3 with two home runs, while Austin Riley is 4 for 12 with a home run.

Final  Brewers-Braves Prediction & Pick

The Brewers should find a way to win this game, and it’s going to be with their bats. They have been held back for so long by the Braves’ pitching that it feels like Game 4 is where Milwaukee rediscovers its hitting. Take the Brewers straight up.
