The San Francisco Giants edged the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 to the tune of a 4-0 score, thanks to the brilliant performance of Logan Webb on the mound. Will Kevin Gausman follow that victory up with another pitching gem for the Giants’ rotation? Or, will Julio Urias neutralize San Francisco’s offense and help Los Angeles tie the series at 1-1? With that said, it’s now time to read up on our Dodgers-Giants prediction and preview.

Here’s how the bookmakers have set the lines for this Dodgers vs. Giants NLDS Game 2 matchup.

MLB Odds: Dodgers-Giants Odds

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (+155)

San Francisco Giants +1.5 (-185)

Over 7.0 runs (-120)

Under 7.0 runs (+100)

Why the Dodgers Could Cover

The Dodgers need a short memory and move on from their loss to San Francisco in Game 1. For Game 2, Los Angeles will be giving the ball to Julio Urias, who’s been like a lucky charm for the team. Wins have looked automatic for the Dodgers this season whenever Urias gets a start. They are 11-0 in his last 11 starts. During that stretch, the lefty went 8-0 with a 1.77 ERA and 2.27 FIP.

That span also includes the Dodgers’ 6-1 road win against San Francisco on Sep. 4 wherein Urias allowed just an earned run on eight hits with eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work during a 6-1 win. The 25-year-old Urias also appears to be better on the mound when he’s pitching away from Dodger Stadium. Back in the regular season, Urias had a better road record on the road (13-2) than at home (7-1) and a lower ERA (2.71). The Dodgers enter Game 2 with a 5-2 record in their last seven playoff games as the road team.

Why the Giants Could Cover

Looking to follow the lead of Logan Webb’s excellent in the series opener for the Giants will be righty Kevin Gausman. The 30-year-old veteran will step on the mound Saturday following a successful regular season wherein he amassed a 14-6 record and a 2.81 ERA. Gausman looked sharp in his most recent start, surrendering just an earned run on six hits while fanning out five hitters and issuing a single walk across seven innings of a 3-2 home loss to the San Diego Padres on Oct. 2. He is 1-1 in three starts in the regular season against the Dodgers, who got five runs off him on eight hits over the course of 14 total innings.

Gausman could be catching the Dodgers at a great time, with LA’s offense freezing cold of late, scoring just three runs since the start of the postseason. Conversely, San Francisco’s offense is looking great, having scored a total of 15 runs in their last two games. Buster Posey, who smacked a two-run homer in Game 1, is a man to watch at the plate for Game 2, especially since he is 9 of 18 with three walks all-time versus Urias.

Final Dodgers-Giants Prediction & Pick

Just like in Game 1, the Giants are once again underdogs as a home team for Game 2. If you bet on the Dodgers to win the series opener, you should have learned your lesson by now. If not, then get this: the Giants are 4-0 in their last four games as the underdog. For my Dodgers-Giants prediction, I'm taking the Giants’ run line.

FINAL PICK: San Francisco Giants +1.5 (-185)
