With the Washington Wizards looking to make some roster altering moves ahead of the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline, Montrezl Harrell is one player that could be on his way out of the nation’s capital. Considering all the trade chatter that’s taken place over the past few weeks, seeing the Wizards move Harrell wouldn’t be the least bit surprising.

His length, athleticism and tenacity on both ends of the floor are all attributes that a contending team in need of quality depth at the power forward or center spots would greatly benefit from.  Now that the Wizards have officially put Harrell on the trade block, we’ll take a look at the four best trade destinations for the veteran big man.

Montrezl Harrell trade destinations

Toronto Raptors

On the Raptors, Montrezl Harrell would be joining an exciting young core of Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr., Scottie Barnes, and Chris Boucher while providing them a much-needed boost to their frontcourt rotation. His speed, strength, and activity on the glass is exactly what Toronto needs to keep up with their current streak of success.

After a slow start to their season, the Raptors are now just one win away from nabbing the eighth spot out East, and the addition of Harrell would help them out immensely as they aim to continue climbing the ranks of the ultra-competitive Eastern Conference. With his well-rounded offensive game, defensive tenacity, and can-do attitude, Harrell is exactly the type of player that Nick Nurse loves to coach and on the Raptors Trez could tap into his potential even further in a championship culture.

Miami Heat

As the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat have shown their grit and intensity as they’ve continued to play a winning brand of basketball despite battling through several injuries throughout the season. On the Heat, Montrezl Harrell would fit right in with their innovative and exciting style of position-less basketball that’s taken the league by storm.

Under the guidance of championship winning head coach Erik Spoelstra, Harrell would excel with the Heat playing at the power forward or center spot while forming killer on-court chemistry with Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Kyle Lowry, and Tyler Herro. Not to mention Harrell would be another tough-minded enforcer for Miami playing alongside Butler, Adebayo, Lowry, PJ Tucker, and Markieff Morris.

Plus with seasoned veteran and long time team captain Udonis Haslem still on the roster, the Heat would boast the league’s toughest and most intimidating squad. With the Heat’s current lack of size, the addition of Trez would be a major boost to their frontcourt rotation. Currently holding the top seed in the conference, Harrell’s electric play could be the missing link to Miami making a return to the NBA Finals and winning it all this year.

Chicago Bulls

Even with Patrick Williams progressing in rehab and making strides in his recovery, the Chicago Bulls still find themselves shorthanded and working with a relatively thin frontline. The acquisition of Harrell would be solve this issue for them and give them a solid big man rotation while they await Williams’ return to the court.

Between Montrezl Harrell, Nikola Vucevic, and Tony Bradley, the Bulls would have plenty of rebounding, rim protection, and low post scoring to work with. Harrell’s versatility would also open up even more scoring opportunities for DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Coby White. With this move, the Bulls would further improve their roster while adding a versatile veteran presence.

Golden State Warriors

Still awaiting the return of James Wiseman, the Warriors have had to rely heavily on Kevon Looney this season. On top of that, Draymond Green has also been out for the past few weeks with a calf injury. Harrell would thrive in Golden State’s up-tempo two-way style and excel in the pick-and-roll game.

He’d also make for a lethal lob threat and give them another set of active hands on the glass outside of Looney. While they await the return of Green and Wiseman, Montrezl Harrell would be great insurance and bring the explosion and aggression that they’ve been sorely lacking in their frontcourt as of late.
