MSI 2022 Rumble Stage: Day 4

The top 6 teams from the Groups Stage advance into the MSI 2022 Rumble Stage, each fighting for one of the four slots in the Knockout Stage. Read on for the summaries and results of MSI 2022 Rumble Stage: Day 4.

Game 1: PSG Talon (PCS) vs G2 Esports (LEC)

PSG Talon claimed sole possession of the early neutral objectives, as Jankos' Poppy looked like it was anything but useful. By the second Rift Herald, G2 has had enough and decided to fight PSG. Unfortunately for the EU representatives, PSG Talon had a better team composition suited for fights, as well as an adequately fed Tristana and Kennen. G2 were unable to find a single kill until a huge fight in the mid lane 25 minutes in, where Flakked and BrokenBlade popped off and get 3 PSG members.

G2 proceeded to slay Baron Nashor and succeed, but not before losing three members in the process. PSG Talon on the other hand, get the Infernal Soul and win the succeeding fight with G2 by simply out-damaging them. PSG Talon claimed the Baron buff and after Unified's Tristana goomba stomped the G2 members, end the game.

Result: PSG win in 33:21 (PSG 18 – 8 G2)

Game 2: T1 (LCK) vs Evil Geniuses (LCS)

Evil Geniuses started the action early, but fail their first play in the top side. T1 promptly answer with a 4-man dive that turn up heads for them and kill EG's botlane duo. As the minutes went on, EG's easy “press R” composition showed its strengths in catching out T1 members. Inspired in particular is piloting Nocturne well, using his Paranoia not only to gank but to deny information from T1.

T1 was in the lead, but this lead was not growing. When they did attempt to get a bigger lead by pushing bot lane, they overextend and it backfires instead. Soon, they decided to hit Baron Nashor. T1 was made invulnerable by the Taric ultimate, but Impact hit several of them with more than a thousand damage from a well-timed barrel.

T1 was in dire straits at this point, but a good Lee Sin kick from Oner onto Danny wins them the fight over the Hextech Drake.

Again, they attempt to take Baron but this time, the result was more decisive this time in favor of EG. Kalista mispositioned and did not get the Taric invulnerability which caused her to pop like a balloon from EG's damage. Danny's Jinx got Excited and ran over T1. Everything that happened after this is a formality, and Evil Geniuses take the upset victory over T1.

Result: EG win in 32:01 (T1 11 – 22 EG)

Game 3: Saigon Buffalo (VCS) vs Royal Never Give Up (LPL)

The early game was bloody, but SGB, especially Froggy, all performed well against the trademarked LPL aggression displayed by RNG. Skirmishes happened everywhere, but the VCS representatives answer each play by RNG well.

In a fight around the Rift Herald, Wei's Viego had the chance to reset several times, tipping the scales in RNG's favor. Several skirmishes happen after, mostly involving the junglers.

SGB then decide to go to Baron not for the buff, but to bait RNG into an extended fight. This caused RNG to retreat and continue stacking dragons as SGB has been ignoring this neutral objective. When it came to it, SGB decided to give over the Cloud Soul for the Baron buff.

SGB attempt to push for the end with the Baron-empowered minions, but Wei repel them masterfully. After this, SGB looked lost, and chain inted several kills which gave RNG space. A chaotic game-ending fight occurs over the Elder Dragon and it came up RNG. After this loss, the Saigon Buffalos are eliminated from Knockout Stage contention.

Result: RNG win in 35:28 (SGB 25 – 19 RNG)

Game 4: G2 Esports (LEC) vs T1 (LCK)

• T1: Lucian, Wukong, Ornn, Xayah, Tahm Kench

• T1: Rumble, Viego, Ahri, Aphelios, Nautilus

G2 went out the gates red-hot and quickly made plays all around the map. All of these plays somehow work in their favor until T1 finally made a play that went great for them after getting 4 G2 members for one. T1 springboard off this play and win the next fight over the Drake. This lead allowed them to take multiple towers.

T1 then found their game-winning fight after they ambushed the G2 squad near the Baron pit.

Result: T1 win in 21:44 (G2 9 – 18 T1)

Game 5: Saigon Buffalo (VCS) vs PSG Talon (PCS)

• SGB: Lee Sin, Nocturne, Viego, Kalista, Xayah
• PSG: Lucian, Wukong, Gwen, Volibear, Xin Zhao

The Buffalos found several kills in the early game, but seemingly repeating their mistakes against RNG, fail to get the neutral objectives. The game was full of small skirmishes, but a big fight in mid lane is when SGB truly went sicko mode. They soon went to slay Baron Nashor off of a timing advantage and sieged PSG's topside. PSG are then caught off-guard by a quick engage and SGB claim their first victory of the Rumble stage.

Result: SGB win in 28:29 (SGB 15 – 9 PSG)

Game 6: Royal Never Give Up (LPL) vs Evil Geniuses (LCS)

• EG: Ahri, Wukong, Lucian, Camille, Jax

Picks

• RNG: Gangplank, Viego, Galio, Kai’Sa, Leona

There's no pleasant way to say this for EG fans, they were getting dumpstered by RNG. Evil Geniuses kept trying to make plays and baiting RNG into fighting but the LPL team was just way too strong.

RNG's composition has way too much crowd control for EG to deal with, plus Viego getting resets on each kill meant that this game was a total and utter destruction from RNG.

Result: RNG win in 24:27 (RNG 26 – 4 EG)
