MI vs PBKS, MCA Stadium. Mumbai Indians are probably one of the great T20 teams of all time. But this season of IPL 2022 hasn't been in their favor. Four games lost in a row. This is not something new for MI, but they need to focus on winning the matches early in the tournament. The Punjab Kings are having a decent IPL season with the two wins and two defeats.
MI has a very deep batting lineup up to the number 7, with all the batters performing well. But the bowling department is slightly weaker in defending good totals. No team in the world expects a bowler like Pat Cummins to hit a fifty in 14-balls. Probably a pinch of bad luck gone too far for MI. Trent Boult left a hole in MI's powerplay bowling that Unadkat or Mills can not fill. MI has failed to surprise opponents in the powerplay. Pandya brothers left fifth and sixth bowlers spots, which are yet to be filled. Pollard and Brevis will not be as effective as the Pandya brothers.
Skipper Agarwal has too much on his shoulders, affecting his batting. The good thing is that Dhawan is consistent as always. The addition of Bairstow and Livingston provides firepower, but the mystery of spin can easily dismiss both. PBKS is not taking advantage of Shahrukh as they should be. PBKS middle-order ends at 5 or 6. This is a worrisome sign. Rahul Chahar will be the edge over MI's batting. He knows MI batting very well, and Mayank should use him in the powerplay. MI has SKY and Varma in the middle, who are good batters of spin. It will be interesting if Sandeep Sharma is available because he has troubled every MI batter.
