England will be hosting Hungary on the fourth matchday of UEFA Nations League A, with the English team seeking revenge and the Hungarian team looking to continue their good run in this group. With that said, it’s a good time to check out our Nations League odds series, which includes our England-Hungary prediction and pick we have laid out below.

England opened this Nations League group in the worst possible way, dropping a game to group outsiders Hungary. The next two games were not much better, as two draws with Italy and Germany mean that they occupy the last place in their group. The Three Lions need this win to stay up in this league. Hungary are enjoying a honeymoon period, as getting the win over England means a ton in terms of their survival in this league. Truth be told, they did end up losing to Italy, but also drew with Germany, so overall the Hungarians can be happy. Now, the second part begins and both teams will look for a good result here.

Why England Could Win This Game

The Three Lions, before losing to Hungary, were on an amazing run. England had not lost a game in 2021 or 2022 until RB Leipzig player Dominik Szoboszlai converted a 66th-minute penalty to win the game for Hungary. That moment did not really wake up the English team, as they played two more underwhelming games and now look in danger to exit this league, with just two points in two games. Fighting for survival on this level of Nations League should be a huge reason for England to really push for a win.

Additionally, England are far stronger, in terms of individual talent, than Hungary and most of the world, at least with this generation. Of course, they are led by Harry Kane, but the rest of the roster is also incredible. Some of the best players include Jack Grealish, Buyako Saka, Declan Rice, Mason Mount, Jude Bellingham, Kyle Walker, and Phil Foden, to name a few. With these kinds of names and the quality they bring, the English need to win.

Last, the Hungarian team beat England in the first matchday and this is the ideal place for the English to take their revenge. They will be playing at home, versus a team that is overmatched in quality, and with motivation to play. England should really be taking this game without any doubts. We will see if their desire to play in the UEFA Nations League A can overcome the tiredness some of the English players must feel.

Why Hungary Could Win This Game

There is a simple reason why this Hungary team can beat England: they have already done it, just a few days back. Playing in their Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary won 1-0. While it was not convincing or pretty, it was a huge win for their confidence. For a team that has been generally hot and cold over the last period, getting a win as huge as this one is surely a sign that they can achieve great things.

When it comes to the biggest reason why they could win, it is their team mentality. This team does not have the individual quality of England, and that is undeniably true. However, they are a very compact team and one that does not falter easily. In the group of death during EURO 2020, Hungary took a point off both France and Germany and only lost to Portugal due to late goals. Clearly, this team does not care who they play against and will put in a shift to win the game regardless.

The Hungarians have the know-how, in terms of how to win the game versus England. They also have the motivation, as winning here would put Hungary in the conversation for the top of this group. Last, they have a team that is as stable as possible, and it is full of players who would do anything for the teammate next to them. All of these things together give us the confidence to believe Hungary might take all three points in this match.

Final England-Hungary Prediction and Pick

While Hungary winning this game is not out of the realm of possibility, England are just too strong to lose in this matchup again. While they did lose the first matchup, the English will not allow themselves one more embarrassment. Our final England-Hungary prediction is an England win at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England.

Final England-Hungary Pick: England (-450)
