Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler started strong against the Los Angeles Lakers in the much-anticipated Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night. However, he gave the team quite a scare late in the second quarter when he twisted his left ankle on a strong drive against Anthony Davis.

Jimmy Butler was clearly hurt and wasn't able to get back on defense as he tried to walk it off. With the Heat lacking one player on the other end, the Lakers immediately capitalized, which led to a wide-open dunk from Davis.

The Heat immediately called for a timeout to give Butler a little reprieve. Fortunately, he didn’t have to sit down as he stayed for the remainder of the first half, giving the entire South Beach a huge sigh of relief.

The former Marquette star has been the lone bright spot for the Heat in the first half. He sank his first four shots and played solid defense against LeBron James. Butler finished the first half with team-highs of 16 points, four assists and two steals in 20 minutes. Butler also made seven of his 10 shots, including 2-of-2 from the 3-point line.

The Purple and Gold, however, carried an imposing 17-point lead at halftime, 65-48. Davis had a game-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, while adding four rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

The Lakers bench has been huge as well in the first two quarters, combining for 20 markers, nine boards, and six dimes.
