One of the more contentious topics coming out of the most recent episode of the mega-hit docu-series “The Last Dance” was the omission of Detroit Pistons guard Isiah Thomas from the famed 1992 “Dream Team.” It was detailed how nearly all the players on the squad did not want Thomas on board, and how Michael Jordan and his unsavory relationship with the former was pretty much used as the scapegoat.

San Antonio Spurs legend and fellow Dream Team member David Robinson recently spoke out about this controversial issue. In his statement, the Hall of Famer backed up Jordan's claim from the show that it wasn't only MJ who did not want Thomas on the squad.

“If you have a reputation and you take pride in your reputation as a ‘Bad Boy’ it kind of means people aren’t going to like you,” Robinson said on the Bulls Talk Podcast with Jason Goff, via Kevin Anderson of NBC Sports Chicago. “Can you be that surprised when people say ‘I don’t really want to play with the ‘Bad Boys?’”

That's a fair point from Robinson. After all, most, if not all the members of the Dream Team had their own encounter with Thomas and the Pistons “Bad Boys.” So it is not at all surprising that they simply did not like Thomas.

Robinson added that at the end of the day, it was all about team chemistry.

“When you talk about putting together a team, chemistry matters. It does,” Robinson said. “You can’t act like it doesn’t matter and for that team it was clear that was a consideration for all the people involved.”

True enough, the Dream Team absolutely dominated their competition in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, and they united as one to bring home the gold to the United States. Who knows, perhaps Thomas' inclusion may have messed up with the team spirit and camaraderie, and maybe the legend of the '92 Dream Team would never come to be.
