On Monday night, Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook got into a heated verbal altercation with a Utah fan during the Thunder's 98-89 win over the Jazz at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

Westbrook threatened the fan and his wife, and after the game the 2017 NBA MVP said that the fan was hurling racial taunts at him, which was what provoked his aggressive response.

The fan, Shane Keisel, then received a lifetime fan from Jazz home games.

However, Keisel denies that he used any racial terms, and according to Felicia Martinez of KSL TV, he will be filing a lawsuit against Westbrook.

Keisel did not take much of an issue with anything Westbrook said to him, but he was angry over the fact that Westbrook threatened his wife.

“I don’t care,” he said. “He can threaten me all he wants. I was the one talking to him … but don’t threaten a woman. She’s 5 feet tall and 110 pounds, man. Never said a word to him.”

Keisel added that he and his family have been receiving death threats since the incident and said that he thinks the wrong picture is being painted of him in public.

This is not Russell Westbrook's first altercation with a Jazz fan.

During last year's playoffs, Westbrook confronted two Utah fans as he was heading into the locker room before halftime of Game 6. Then, after the game was over, the All-Star guard tried to knock a cell phone out of a fan's hands.
