Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Kings-Suns odds.

NBA Odds: Kings-Suns Odds

Sacramento Kings +12.5 (-115)

Phoenix Suns -12.5 (-105)

Over 234.5 Points (-110)

Under 234.5 Points(-110)

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Kings are just a very inconsistent team. After it looked like Coach Luke Walton has gotten his team to turn the corner by winning five straight games, the Kings go on to lose eight straight games which include an injured Los Angeles Lakers team, the Detroit Pistons, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Washington Wizards.

During this stretch, the Kings' lone star, DeAaron Fox, put up three 30-plus point performances against three different teams and a 43-point performance against the New Orleans Pelicans. In addition to Fox who has been fantastic on the offensive end of the floor all season, the Kings also have five other players averaging double-digit points for the season.

The problem for the Kings lies on the defensive end of the floor where they currently rank dead in the league. This will be the key for the Kings to cover the spread against the Suns who have the 7th best offensive rating in the league.

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread

The Suns have been playing great basketball to climb to the 2nd seed in the Western Conference. Coach Monty Williams' team is ranked with the 7th best offensive rating and 5th best defensive rating in the league.

Offensively this team is being led by their dynamic backcourt of Chris Paul and Devin Booker.

CP3 is averaging 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game while Booker has been putting up 25.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. The two are both shooting very efficiently from the floor at almost 50 percent and nearly 40 percent from behind the three-point line.

Defensively, the Suns have Deandre Ayton anchoring the paint who is averaging 1.1 blocks and 7.5 defensive rebounds per game. Additionally, every player on this Phoenix team takes pride in their ability to guard their individual defensive assignment which makes them such a great team.

Considering the recent tear the Suns have been, they should pick up an easy win against the Kings on Thursday. To cover the spread though, the Suns will need to be absolutely dominant on the offensive end of the floor and to stay attached to Fox on the defensive end of the floor who controls the entire offense for the Kings.

Final Kings-Suns Prediction & Pick

The Kings who are the worse defensive rated team in the league are matching up against the Suns who are the 7th best offensive rated team and 5th best defensive rated team in the league. This does not bode well for the Kings who have also been struggling tremendously as of late on the offensive end of the floor as well. The Suns should pick up their fourth consecutive win but the Kings should be able to keep the game close behind a big performance from Fox in order to cover the spread.

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION & PICK FOR KINGS-SUNS: SAC 114, PHX 124 (SAC +12.5)
