The Washington Wizards will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Wizards-Timberwolves prediction and pick.

The Wizards don't have much to play for in this game. Their 34-44 record has them as the 12th-best team in the Eastern Conference, and they've already been mathematically eliminated from the postseason.

The Timberwolves, on the other hand, could still improve their standing as they head into the postseason. Minnesota trails the six-seeded Utah Jazz by a game and a half, which means that every game is hugely important if the T-Wolves want any chance of avoiding the play-in tournament to advance to the playoffs outright.

This should be an exciting one, so let's get into the pick.

Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread

The Wizards' offense should operate somewhat efficiently in this game. Washington hasn't been great on that side of the floor, but shoots a solid 47% from the field. Those stats should stack up well against a Timberwolves defense that has struggled to stop pretty much anyone this season. Minnesota nearly allows 113 points per game while giving up 45% shooting to their opponents. The T-Wolves have allowed 125 points or more in each of their last four contests, and that trend could continue here.

The Timberwolves will likely be without some key players in this game. Starting point guard Patrick Beverley is questionable with an ankle injury, while backups Malik Beasley and Jaden McDaniels are both dealing with injuries of their own. Beasley is likely to play, but the other two guys are very much questionable. Beverley is a key part of Minnesota's defense, and McDaniels provides a strong presence on both ends of the floor off of the bench.  The Timberwolves should struggle if Beverley and McDaniels end up missing Tuesday's game.

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

Minnesota should also have a successful offensive outing here. The Timberwolves have been one of the better scoring teams in the NBA this season, averaging a whopping 115 points per game. Their shooting percentages aren't anything to write home about, but the pure volume of shots they put up is often enough to let them outscore their opponents. Minnesota shoots an insane 90 shots per game, and on average, 41 of those are three-pointers. Washington allows their opponents to shoot 35% from beyond the arc, a pretty decent percentage. That percentage is also on 31 three-point attempts per game, so the Timberwolves should have an easy time exploiting that advantage on Tuesday.

Home court advantage will play a big role in this game. The Timberwolves are significantly better at home than they are on the road, earning a 65% winning percentage at Target Center and a 48% winning percentage anywhere else. The Wizards have also been significantly worse on the road, own a 13-25 record away from home and 21-19 mark at Capital One Arena. The Timberwolves are clearly comfortable playing on their home floor, and that should show in this game.

Final Wizards-Timberwolves Prediction & Pick

It's hard to trust this Wizards lineup with any sort of spread. Minnesota is the far superior team, and they play at home. Trust the Timberwolves to cover here.
