Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Jazz-Grizzlies odds.

NBA Odds: Jazz-Grizzlies Odds

Utah Jazz -5.5 (-105)

Memphis Grizzlies +5.5 (-115)

Over 224 Points (-115)

Under 224 Points (-105)

Why The Jazz Could Cover The Spread

The Utah Jazz finally welcomed Donovan Mitchell back to the court in Game 2, which proved to be just what the doctor ordered. Mitchell brings a bravado to this team that is almost required to sustain success. The Jazz play fundamentally sound basketball and will always shoot at high efficiency. Truthfully speaking, you can't win in this league without a go-to star that is able to create on his own. Donovan Mitchell is back and should ultimately be the difference-maker in this series.

The Jazz shooting guard dropped 25 points in his 26-minute return to the court in Game 2. He opened the floor for Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert, who both registered double-doubles in the victory. Bojan Bogdanovic and Jordan Clarkson added 18 and 16 points respectively as well. The all-around effort speaks volumes to the depth and consistency that this team possesses. Utah has a great coaching staff, which translates to one of the best products on the court in all of basketball.

Why The Grizzlies Could Cover The Spread

The Memphis Grizzlies stole a game in Utah, which actually gives them a fighter's chance in this first-round series. They carried the momentum from the play-in tournament and capitalized on Utah's early struggles in Game 1. Ja Morant and crew came into Utah and played the style of ball that has gotten them here. Memphis is the best interior-scoring team in all of basketball and they stayed true to that approach. Morant is one of the savviest guards in the league and creates well for Jonas Valanciunas and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Morant balled out in Game 2 with a miraculous 47 points in the loss. The young guard actually bested Mike Conley's previous franchise high in a postseason game. Valanciunas and Dillon Brooks couldn't get it going in the first half and although both got cooking in the third quarter, it was too little too late for the Grizzlies. With Jaren Jackson Jr. back on the court and this team seemingly at full strength, it'll be interesting to see if they can steal another one on their home court and send this series the distance. The Grizzlies weren't phenomenal on their home court this season, but hopefully, the added energy from their fans will elevate their play to another level on the defensive end.

Final Jazz-Grizzlies Prediction & Pick

Memphis already surprised folks with its Game 1 victory and seems poised to surprise a few more before it's all said and done. The Grizzlies are playing smash-mouth basketball against a Utah club that doesn't like to get out of their comfort zone. The Jazz do a phenomenal job of controlling the tempo and if they can continue to do that, they will show why the Game 1 defeat was a fluke. There is no question that Utah is the more talented club. The only real doubt that anyone has is if the Jazz have a true star that's able to take over in crunch time. With Donovan Mitchell back, I believe they do have one. I also believe he'll be enough for Utah to secure a comfortable victory in this swing game.

FINAL PICK: Utah Jazz -5.5 (-105)
