Despite the one-sided nature of the 2018 NBA Finals with the Golden State Warriors dominating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first two games, the interest in the series from fans has not waned one bit. Apart from the star power from both teams, the series is also garnering intense attention because of the perceived bad quality of how the games have been officiated so far.

Apparently, the National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) has had enough of the criticisms that it has decided to live tweet Game 3 of the NBA Finals this coming Wednesday.

Given the volatile and hostile nature of the internet, this might not end up well for the NBRA, as it’s not a stretch to imagine a legion of trolls and angry fans coming down hard on them in the comments section, all carrying virtual pitchforks and torches. The referees are already having a hard time dealing with enraged players and coaches on the court, so what more can they do once they have to tackle the feelings of the citizens of their internet? But hey, at least they don’t have to meet them face to face.

Aren’t we all content with just Steve Javie popping up in the middle of the broadcast to explain the rules and clarify the game officials’ thought processes in making the calls?
