The Detroit Pistons are believed to want to trade center Andre Drummond before the February trade deadline, but they aren’t receiving any offers they like.

Part of the reason is that Drummond can become an unrestricted free agent after this season ends if he declines his 2020-21 player option, so teams aren’t willing to give up draft capital and assets to acquire him since they can sign him as a free agent once June 30 hits.

Via Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report:

There are fewer questions about the availability of the Pistons' Andre Drummond, but with a player option to play next season for $28.8 million or become a free agent, uncertainty over what Drummond might do has teams hesitant to deal for him, league sources said.

Drummond has appeared in 46 games for the Pistons this season. He’s averaging 17.2 points, 15.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 52.3 percent from the field and 58.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pistons are only 17-33 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings and have yet to win three games in a row.

Blake Griffin was a shell of himself after undergoing left knee surgery this past summer before undergoing another surgery this season, which will keep him out indefinitely. Detroit isn't expected to make the playoffs this season, which is why many believe they should move Drummond and get some assets in return.

However, teams don't want to trade for Drummond by giving up a lot since he could potentially be a rental player.
