The wait for Ben Simmons' debut for the Brooklyn Nets will have to wait a little longer. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Simmons will not be able to suit up even on Thursday's road game against the Philadelphia 76ers, which would have been a much more intriguing matchup with the point guard on the floor.

Prior to that game against the Sixers, the Nets will be taking on the Charlotte Hornets in Carolina this Tuesday. The Nets are on a four-game losing skid and could certainly use help from Simmons, but his back injury is keeping him from making his highly anticipated debut for the Nets after getting traded to Brooklyn by the Sixers back in February.

With this latest update on Simmons' status, it appears that fans will no longer be able to get a chance to get a glimpse of what it would be like for him to play against his former team this regular season. The soonest Simmons can meet the Sixers on the floor will be in the playoffs, the possibility of which, of course, depends on a number of things. Nevertheless, Sixers fans will be able to let Simmons hear their feelings towards him, as he'll still be on the bench to watch the Nets.

Simmons' continued absence would mean Kyrie Irving, Patty Mills, and Goran Dragic will continue to share the playmaking duties at the point guard slot.
