The Brooklyn Nets have been without the services of third-year point guard D'Angelo Russell for a game, and it appears it may be much longer than that.

According to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report, the Nets have announced that Russell has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery and currently has no timetable for a return to the court.

Russell had already been declared out for Friday's game against the Utah Jazz due to a left knee injury that he suffered in last Saturday's 114-108 loss to the Jazz. This isn't the first time that he has dealt with knee issues as he suffered two separate knee injuries last year with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He has missed 11 straight games after undergoing a PRP injection in his left knee in late November, and later in that season, he suffered a mild MCL sprain in his right knee, a right calf strain and a bone bruise this past January that forced him to miss three games. Although the Nets have yet to put out a timetable for recovery, this time of surgery typically takes around six to eight week to make a return.

The 21-year-old had been off to a promising start in his first campaign with the Nets averaging a team-best 20.9 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds. In his absence, the Nets will likely continue to roll with backup Spencer Dinwiddie as the starting point guard moving forward. Dinwiddie started Tuesday's loss to the Boston Celtics recording a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists in 34 minutes played.
