The moment Jahlil Okafor has long been waiting for could finally happen on Wednesday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, as Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson recently shared, via Bryan Fonseca of NetsDaily, that he may start breaking him into their rotation by then.

Almost a month after the team traded for him, the 6-foot-11 big man has only appeared in one game for the Nets so far. While improving his conditioning and having more practice sessions with the Nets have been asked from him first, Jahlil Okafor is now more familiar with the sets they are running, which makes the development very timely for him.

“He’s close,” Atkinson said. “I’d expect to see him against Minnesota. I think we’ll start to get him some minutes. He’s been doing a phenomenal job getting ready physically with our assistant coaches learning what we’re doing. Collectively we feel like he’s ready to get some minutes.”

During his stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, Jahlil Okafor product has seen his usage drop in each of the last two years and only saw action in two games so far this season before landing with the Nets. Now that he will have the opportunity to receive more playing time, it will also be Okafor's chance to prove that he belongs at the highest level and that his former team made a mistake in not allowing him to be part of their future plans.

It will be very interesting to see how Jahlil Okafor will play and what kind of conditioning he’s in at this point. However, one thing that’s certain is Okafor will earn more court action if he shows glimpses of what he has done in his first two seasons, and even his his college days, which made him the third overall pick in 2015.
