The Brooklyn Nets lost their third straight game on Monday night after running into the streaking Memphis Grizzlies. Ja Morant once again starred for the Grizzlies, who notched their fifth straight win.

After previously taking down LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, Morant also outdueled Kevin Durant in their 118-104 victory over the Nets. The high-flying Grizzlies guard totaled 36 points on an efficient 14-of-22 shooting while adding six rebounds and eight assists.

Durant, who finished with 26 points on 8-of-24 marksmanship, only had good things to say about Morant, via ClutchPoints' Dave Early:

“He's just controlling the games. Always been an efficient player who can run the point guard spot, but he's developed into a major scorer as well. He plays with great pace out there, plays with joy and enthusiasm, and you see him blossoming in front of our eyes.”

That's pretty generous for Durant coming off a loss. But clearly, like the rest of the NBA, the Nets star has been impressed with how the 22-year-old Morant has developed into an elite force. His confidence is at an all-time high as well, even talking smack to the Lakers after handing them the loss. He has powered the Grizzlies to a 24-14 record this season.

Morant probably also reminds Durant of his younger self. After all, they both came into the NBA as highly touted one-and-done prospects from college, were both selected as the No. 2 overall pick, and were both named Rookie of the Year.

The Nets will have their own dynamic guard soon in Kyrie Irving. This should probably only make Morant even more fired up as he leads his Grizzlies and makes a charge at Most Improved Player this season. Morant is currently the favorite to win the award, per the odds at FanDuel.
