Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant is always very aware of conversations happening online, and Sunday morning he took notice of a comment made Saturday complaining about the discourse surrounding the NBA. The initial comment complained that so many people just tune in now to slander the losers instead of watching for the love of the game.

Durant responded by taking a shot at “legacy talk,” as well as sports betting:

Durant's legacy has obviously been the subject of plenty of conversations over the years. There was a lot of controversy surrounding his decision to go to the Golden State Warriors, with many still not respecting that move and claiming that his titles are tainted because he signed on with a dynasty.

Now Durant's legacy is in the crosshairs again after his Brooklyn Nets got swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. KD struggled in that series against the elite Celtics defense, and the slander was out in full force despite just how good he has been over the course of his career.

The Nets star actually tweeted a number of other responses to fans as part of this Mother's Day conversation, only to wind up deleting them and just leaving up this one tweet about “legacy talk.” It's clear Durant is annoyed by how much it dominates the discourse and is also surely still sore at his two championships getting criticized by so many fans.

Durant definitely has a point, because a large part of the conversations surrounding the NBA and the playoffs are about legacy. Plus, fans and media love slandering guys who fail. It's just an unfortunate part of the coverage and reaction to games, but it's hard to see it changing much at this point.

The sports gambling thing is a whole other can of worms. The proliferation of it across all sports has plenty of people watching just to see if they can hit their bets, and this can often turn nasty as well if a player fails to hit.
