Kyrie Irving's status with the Brooklyn Nets remains in limbo, and it doesn't look like he is returning to the team any time soon. Despite the issue, though, Kevin Durant is focusing on the positive as they continue to grow together as a team even without a key piece of their Big 3.

Speaking with Charles Barkley on Tuesday, Durant admitted that he has no idea when Irving will return. The Nets guard has been exiled amid his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine, which prevents him from playing due to New York's virus mandate.

While a lot of things has been said about Kyrie's absence and how it has negatively affected the team, Durant chose to focus on how the Nets have benefited from the situation. For the one-time NBA MVP, a lot of guys have been given the opportunity to step up because of the Irving issue.

“It’s going well. I mean, I think we understand the situation we’re in, and a lot of guys got to step up and play different roles. I mean, we all think, like, he may come back. Who knows? But for now, we’ve got … We still have to play the games with the guys we have here,” Durant said, per Nets Daily.

“Everybody’s been locked-in on that since Day 1 of the season. Just, like, let’s focus on who's in the locker room and once that situation figured out, we'll adjust back to that. But for now, everybody’s just trying to figure out their roles on this team. And at this point, it’s been exciting trying to figure that out.”

The Nets are moving on without Kyrie Irving, and as Kevin Durant said it, they are filling the void he left on a by-committee approach. KD and James Harden are still leading Brooklyn, but they have also gotten significant contributions from Joe Harris, LaMarcus Aldridge, Patty Mills, Bruce Brown, and Blake Griffin.

Brooklyn certainly wishes they have Irving playing, but by the looks of it, the Nets are more than prepared to play without him if it ends up to that.
