Despite a solid effort in Game 4 on Monday, Kyrie Irving fell short in trying to lead the Brooklyn Nets to live another day and salvage their season. They lost to the Boston Celtics in a down-to-the-wire contest, suffering an unexpected sweep in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Safe to assume, not many imagined a team featuring Irving and Kevin Durant would be booted out in such a convincing fashion. But that's exactly what happened to the Nets, as the Celtics employed a well-drawn-out plan, especially on the defensive end, all series long.

Per the report of ESPN, Irving opened up about his true feelings after getting swept.

Irving said his emotions were “disappointment, a little sadness, because we didn't play as well as a team as we wanted to.”

The eccentric guard finished with 20 points on 6-of-13 shooting, quite underwhelming considering his stature and the fact that their backs were against the wall. The Nets All-Star struggled in the last three games after going off for 39 points in Game 1.

The Nets still couldn't complete the win in Game 4 despite shooting over 50% from the field, taking seven more shots from the free throw line, committing only 10 turnovers, and Celtics star Jayson Tatum fouling out. Irving and company had their chances, but fate had other plans.
