Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson has once again provided an update regarding oft-injured point guard Kyrie Irving. With Irving already missing significant time as a result of injury in his first season as a member of the Nets, the veteran signal-caller will now be forced to the sideline yet again due to some lingering shoulder pain.

Not only that, though, but Atkinson has since revealed that Irving has been dealing with continuous shoulder discomfort. Even though Irving was able to play after previously missing almost 30 games earlier in the year, it appears as though the pain has never truly left the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics point guard.

It now remains to be seen as to whether or not Irving will be able to return to the Nets lineup anytime soon with the playoffs hanging in the balance.

Of course, the Nets have been battling significant injuries all season long as both Irving and former Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors superstar forward Kevin Durant has yet to play a single minute as a member of the Eastern Conference franchise.

With Irving missing a significant amount of time due to his ailing shoulder this season, Durant continues to recover from an Achilles injury that he suffered at the end of last season during his time with the aforementioned Warriors.

Because both Irving and Durant are not at full strength just yet, it seems as though the Nets will continue to play it safe with the former as the latter attempts to regain his health as well.

Perhaps 2020-21 will be the season Nets fans have been waiting for, but it sure won't be in 2019-20 unfortunately.
