The Kevin Durant-less Brooklyn Nets lost their sixth game in a row on Wednesday night to a very poor Sacramento Kings team, who were missing their best player in De'Aaron Fox. While Steve Nash's squad undoubtedly realizes they need to be better, Kyrie Irving had a rather bizarre excuse for the disappointing loss.

Via Kristian Winfield:

Whether the Nets' opponents are stepping up their play or not, it's still an odd thing for Kyrie to say. After all, they still have himself and James Harden on the floor. Well, at least across the last three games on the road. The star duo struggled immensely in Sacramento though, combining for a mere 18 points. Irving had just 14, while The Beard dropped four points. That was his lowest total in a game since the 2010/11 season when he was coming off the bench for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

This is the Nets' longest losing streak since the 2019/20 campaign where they dropped seven consecutive and it won't get any easier over the weekend as Brooklyn visits the Jazz and Nuggets. With no clear timetable for Durant's return from a knee injury, the Nets are going to need to figure it out quickly. They're now just 29-22 on the season which puts them in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
