Kyrie Irving knows how great of a scorer Kevin Durant is, but even the All-Star guard was in awe after witnessing his Brooklyn Nets teammate become just the 23rd player in NBA history to reach 25,000 points.

The Nets playmaker has nothing but huge praises for Durant, who exploded for 37 points against the Boston Celtics. While Brooklyn ended up losing, it doesn't change the fact that KD showed everyone why he is considered the greatest scorer of his generation.

Speaking to the media after the contest, Irving called Durant a basketball “savant.”

Sure enough, there's no better word to describe Kevin Durant than that. When it comes to scoring, he just knows his way that will best punish opponents. He uses his unique combination of length, athleticisms and basketball IQ to dominate, and that has been evident throughout his career.

Even though some would say that Jayson Tatum outshined him on Sunday with a 54-point outing, no one can really blame Durant for the loss. He was an efficient 12-of-21 overall from the field (including 4-of-9 from deep), all while recording six rebounds, eight assists, one steal and two blocks. The only knock on his performance was his seven turnovers, but he did carry a lot of the scoring load for the team.

Durant is one of just three active players to have over 25,000 points, with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony also part of the club. Naturally, Kyrie Irving and the Nets will be relying on KD to continue his scoring exploits as they try to secure a playoff or even a play-in spot.
