Heat veteran PJ Tucker reveals the harsh reality of defending one of the NBA's greatest scoring machines, Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets.

On the latest episode of JJ Redick's podcast, The Old Man & the Three, Tucker shares what it's like to have the constant assignment of shadowing one of the game's greatest scorers.

“No. It's like ‘OK man, that was incredible, yоu made that. Now dо it again. Dо it again.' Bеcause I'm nоt gоnna stop. We gоt facе to facе. I'm nоt gоing anywhere. Tricking mysеlf bеcause he's killing mе. Hе's gоt 50. Hе's gоnna scоre 50.”

Tucker has made his mark around the league by being an effective role player, capable of shooting threes, guarding the opponent's best player, and hustling hard throughout each game.

Tucker and Durant were at the center of attention in last year's Eastern Conference semifinals between the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets. They were involved in multiple atercations, including trash-talk. Tucker's main task defensively was to guard Durant throughout the entire series. Still, Durant averaged 35.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in 7 games.

Ultimately, the Bucks advanced and went on to win the NBA Finals, with Tucker playing a massive role in Milwaukee's success. Still, he marvels at Durant's scoring ability but stays competitive in trying to guard the former scoring champ.

Previously, Tucker's new team, the Miami Heat, managed to garner a victory over Durant and the Nets, with Tucker playing the same role.

According to many people around the NBA, Kevin Durant is regarded as the greatest scorer in league history. This claim isn't baseless; he is approximately 7-feet tall, with elite skills possessed by most world-class guards.

Durant will continue to do what he does best for the Nets regardless of who tries to shadow him. However, the person who can do a considerable job would probably be PJ Tucker.
