Rumors surrounding Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets are getting louder every second. The team's current star guard D'Angelo Russell seems to like all the buzz on the potential backcourt tandem.

Per basketball reporter Billy Reinhardt, Russell liked a post featuring Nets jerseys of him and Irving.

Various reports have revealed that the Nets will be gunning for Irving in the summer. Just recently, the 27-year-old chose not to opt-in to his $21.3 million deal for next season. This will make him eligible to sign a fresh contract with the Boston Celtics or somewhere else. Analysts believe that Irving will leave Boston given the tumultuous year they just had amid high expectations.

Prior to the news of Irving not opting it, the Nets have already created some $46 million in cap space by trading away Allen Crabbe to the and two first-round draft picks to the Atlanta Hawks for Taurean Prince and a 2021 second-round pick. Now, the Nets can freely pursue two maximum free-agent contracts this summer.

In a recent interview, Russell expressed his awareness of the team's moves in the past few days. He knows that the team will be looking to add more pieces. It'll definitely affect him and his career and says that he'll be ready for it.

“It’s the waiting game as far as chess moves have to be made. … There’s a lot of big fish out there that have to find their destinations so I think I’ll [fall in line after that],” Russell told Brian Lewis of The Post. “So whenever that times comes that I have decisions to make on my own, I think I’ll be well ready for it.”
