It was reported on Monday that Ben Simmons could make his highly-awaited Brooklyn Nets debut in the coming days. With Kevin Durant and the Nets falling 1-0 in their opening-round series against the Boston Celtics, it sounds like Brooklyn is about to get a much-needed boost in the form of the former Rookie of the Year.

According to NBA insider Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, Simmons is now β€œpain-free” ahead of his rumored return date for the Nets (h/t Talkin' NBA on Twitter):

The Nets have yet to make a definitive announcement with regard to Simmons' potential return but what is clear is that the former Sixers star is getting close. The fact that he's now dealing without any pain is a major development in his road to recovery as he closes in on a potential return to action after nearly a year on the sidelines.

Game 2 of the Nets vs. the Celtics is scheduled for Tuesday night and while Simmons might not be able to suit up for that one, he should be able to make his highly-anticipated debut for Brooklyn sooner rather than later. It remains to be seen, however, what type of impact he'll have on his new team early on.
