The NFL regular season is almost upon us as we head into Week 3 of the preseason, when the New England Patriots meet Big Blue. The New York Giants are trying to improve after retooling the roster in the offseason. They made an attempt to develop both the offense and the defense with their key additions.

The Giants signed Pro Bowl receiver Kenny Golladay to a 4-year $72 million deal, which will give Daniel Jones an elite target. They also added a great young corner in Adoree' Jackosn, who was signed to a 3-year $39 million deal. These additions will be key as they drastically improve two positions of need. The Giants also added another receiver in the draft in Kadarius Toney.

Jones has a chance to shine this season with his new targets. With that said, here are 4 bold predictions for the Giants preseason game against the Patriots.

Giants predictions:

4. Dante Pettis catches a touchdown pass

Dante Pettis could be a solid backup receiver for the Giants this season. Pettis hasn't done much in the preseason but has played well during training camp. He may not be the player he was expected out of college, but Pettis could be a solid depth piece for the Giants.

With starters expected to play this week, look for Pettis to catch a touchdown.

3. Xavier McKinney gets an interception

One of the best safeties coming out of the 2020 draft was Xavier McKinney. He was taken by the Giants in the second round of the draft and could progress into an elite player. McKinney has the ability to become an integral part of the Giants' defense.

He has great speed and football IQ that will help him progress quickly. Look for McKinney to have a great game against the Patriots, which will include an interception.

2. Daniel Jones plays well

Daniel Jones is expected to play against the Patriots, and he is bound to have an improved season. Jones hasn't impressed in his career so far, but with his supporting cast improved, he should play better.

Last season, Jones threw for 2,943 yards along with 11 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. His completion percentage was 62.5 percent, which will need to be improved this season. Jones was solid on the ground game rushing for 423 yards and a touchdown. However, he did have 11 fumbles, and he will need to limit the turnovers going forward.

Look for Jones to play well in this preseason game as he continues to progress.

1. Darius Slayton impresses

A receiver that could be the number two or 3 option is Darius Slayton. He has not been an elite target but has played solid in his career thus far.

Last season, Slayton had 50 receptions for 751 yards and 3 touchdowns. He could take a jump this season, especially with defenses having to focus on the new targets. Golladay and Toney are primed to draw the defense's attention, which could result in more production for Slayton.

Look for Slayton to have a strong performance against the Patriots as the preseason wraps up.

This is bound to be a great preseason game as Mac Jones will likely play. It is great to watch the rookie quarterbacks play in the preseason, as you get a gauge for how they will perform. The Giants also have a shot at making the playoffs this season due to their division. The NFC East is not a strong division, which allows every team to make a playoff push.

They will be competing for a playoff spot this season, especially if Jones takes a jump.
