Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all 32 teams in the NFL are inclined to conduct the 2020 NFL Draft at their own homes and the commissioner will be following suit. According to Peter King of NBC Sports, Roger Goodell will announce the first-round picks from his basement.

The original plan was for the NFL to have the 2020 NFL Draft take place in Las Vegas. Seeing that the Las Vegas Raiders are unveiling a new stadium next season, the draft was expected to help drum up some business.

However, their plan went awry when the coronavirus outbreak began to spread rapidly. People across the country were informed to remain in their homes and avoid public events.

As a result, Goodell had to act accordingly, canceling the venue in Las Vegas. Instead of the traditional draft, the NFL is going to have all 32 teams take part in a virtual draft. While each team will be discussing their options from home, Goodell will announce the selections in the first round.

Typically, over the years, the incoming prospects hear their name called and make their way to the podium. Then the prospect would shake hands with Goodell and receive a jersey of the team they were drafted by.

But with the unusual circumstances, none of that will be able to come into fruition this year. At the least, the NFL is inviting some of the notable prospects who would have been in attendance in Las Vegas to take part in the virtual draft.

Without a doubt, the 2020 NFL Draft is shaping up to be the strangest draft to date. It only gets weirder when everyone witnesses Goodell make the announcements of each first-round pick within the confines of his basement.
