The 2017 NFL regular season is coming to an end with the team heading toward Week 17. With the regular season ending, the attention turns to the playoffs for the league's elite and the 2018 NFL Draft for teams that failed to live up to expectations with USC's Sam Darnold potentially being the prized rookie quarterback every rebuilding team wants to get their hands on.

Unlike UCLA's Josh Rosen, who could stay in college another year if the Cleveland Browns intend to draft him, the Trojans star under center is taking a different approach. Darnold will almost certainly be a high pick in the upcoming draft, and the 20-year-old seems willing to play for any team in the NFL, via ESPN.

“Whenever I come out to go to the NFL, I think I'd be honored to play for any team,” Darnold said Wednesday, two days before USC faces Ohio State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. “It's been a dream of mine for such a long time to play in the NFL. Any team that would want to give me that opportunity to be a part of their organization, it would mean the world to me.”

The Browns have locked up to the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft for the second straight year. Last year, the lowly Browns decided to address the defensive side of the football by taking defensive end Myles Garrett with the top pick and this year, despite bringing in DeShone Kizer, may be aiming for a potential franchise quarterback.

With Kizer not looking like the team's long-term option at quarterback, Darnold would be the ideal addition for Cleveland. Fortunately for the Browns, Darnold just made taking him a lot easier as he won't put up a fuss like Rosen would if selected by the team with the top pick.

A few other teams in the top-tier of the draft may also be targeting a quarterback. The New York Giants may look for Eli Manning's successor with the No. 2 pick as they're currently sitting in that position while the Indianapolis Colts may have second thoughts about Andrew Luck's durability at No. 3. The Browns also have the Houston Texans' first-round pick which is currently at No. 4.

As it stands right now, if Darnold chooses to leave USC for the NFL, he may very well be headed to Cleveland who is on the cusp of a winless season. The 2018 NFL Draft will take place on April 26.
