Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith told Dan Patrick on the “Dan Patrick Show” he hasn't texted Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott yet after the NFL star suffered a scary ankle injury in Week 5 against the New York Giants.

Smith admitted he'll reach out to Prescott later on, as he doesn't want to “scare the hell out of him” right now.

“I feel like I’ve become a little bit of an expert with the lower leg, so I knew it looked like his ankle immediately,” Alex Smith said of the injury of his fellow NFL QB, via Pro Football Talk.

“For me, yeah, I’ve been thinking about him a lot. I’ve checked up on him through our mutual friends to see how he’s doing. I thought a lot about shooting him a text, but part of me also didn’t want to scare the hell out of him by shooting him a text and getting him thinking he might be headed down this road. I’ll let the infection risk kind of get out of the way and hopefully reach out here soon.”

Dak Prescott is out for the remainder of the 2020 NFL season after undergoing surgery. He suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle against the Giants at home.

Smith, for his part, made his grand return to the football field on the same day Prescott got hurt after missing the entire 2019 season due to a tibia and fibula fracture. The veteran QB is obviously praying for Prescott, but Smith wants to give the Cowboys gunslinger some space before he talks to him.
