In a bit of a shocker former Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders wide receiver, Jordy Nelson has decided to hang up the cleats according to former teammate and current NFL Network analyst James Jones.

After spending ten years with Green Bay Packers Nelson was released and signed last offseason with the Raiders. Nelson caught 63 receptions for 739 yards and three touchdowns. Although the stats still looked okay, he was basically an afterthought with the Raiders. After trading for Antonio Brown the team decided to cut him but there was still some talk he could return to the team on a cheaper salary.

Last year coach Jon Gruden had nothing but praise for Nelson saying he was still a very good receiver in the league.

“He’s a good player, as good as you’ll ever get the chance to coach,” Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said via 247 Sports. “He is so instinctive, so smart, so versatile and so team oriented. That’s why he is here. I think he’s got close to 30 catches in the last four games. He’s healthy, he’s learned our offense, and he’s learned how to play anywhere on the line. Third down or any down, he is still a really good quality wide receiver.”

In 151 games Nelson hauled in 613 catches for 8,587 yards, and 72 touchdowns. It's still to be seen if he will end up in the Hall of Fame, but there is no question he will go down as one of the best Packers wide receivers of all time,
