Defensive end Gerald McCoy still hasn’t decided what team he’ll be playing for in the 2019 NFL season, but that decision seems to be getting closer. According to McCoy, things might even be done as soon as today.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, McCoy has said that he hopes to make a decision on a future team sometime on Monday.

The 31-year old was recently released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and has since been visiting a small handful of teams in an effort to find a new home. Now, it seems as if the time has come to make a decision.

Among the teams hoping to win McCoy’s services are the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, and Cleveland Browns. Should he choose the Browns, the team is hoping that McCoy will be at their mandatory minicamp, which is set to start tomorrow. Of course, McCoy could end up choosing another team and making his way to minicamp sometime later.

Initially on the Bucs to start the year, McCoy was released thanks in part to his salary, as the team was seemingly unwilling to pay him the $13 million that he was due this year.

Although McCoy likely won’t make that much elsewhere, being released does at least open the door for him to sign with a contender or a team that he thinks will be making some noise in the postseason.

The three finalists for McCoy’s services all fit that bill, with the Browns and Ravens also representing a young and upcoming team that will likely be good for the foreseeable future.

If McCoy is looking to make his next team his future home, it might be best for him to aim for one of those teams, that will be competing for division titles and postseason play for, presumably, a long while.
