Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh helped his program to one of their most successful seasons ever, falling just short of the National Championship game with their Orange Bowl loss to Georgia. Harbaugh's Michigan tenure has been a success but that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from churning, particularly about a potential NFL comeback, where the former San Francisco 49ers head coach enjoyed success. Harbaugh has been linked to teams such as the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Giants, though his real status at Michigan was revealed amid the NFL comeback rumors, via Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic.

Per Baumgardner, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan have had “productive” talks on a new deal/package. However, while Michigan reportedly welcomes Harbaugh with open arms and wants him to stay, there are some who are unsure of what the head coach is going to do with all the NFL rumors swirling.

Baumgardner goes on to report that he's heard Michigan hasn't fallen short with its offers to Harbaugh. The wild card here is what Harbaugh wants to do, which seemingly no one knows at the moment, perhaps even Harbaugh himself. An NFL return could be very much in the cards.

It's entirely possible that Jim Harbaugh has interest in both returning to Michigan and the NFL. It could ultimately come down to whoever woos Harbaugh the best.
