The Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos made a wave on Monday when they agreed on a deal that will send linebacker Kenny Young to Denver from LA.

Per Adam Schefter, the Rams will be getting a 2024 sixth-round pick back in the deal while also sending off a seventh-round selection of their own.

For the Broncos this trade makes a ton sense for one big reason: injuries. As Schefter noted, Denver currently has eight injured linebackers and six of those eight are on injured reserve. It's an absurdly high number for any one position group.

As for the Rams, it's a bit of an interesting choice as LA clearly isn't in the “seller” category and Young had appeared to be playing well for the team. In Week 7 on Sunday, Young racked up seven tackles and one sack in a win over the Detroit Lions. Still, LA found him to be expendable on a defense that has been pretty good so far this year.

Young was drafted in the 4th round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens but has been with the Rams since 2019. The move opens up an opportunity in LA for another linebacker to step up in a prominent role while the Broncos get some much needed help at an area that was increasingly thinning.
