After the miscall in the NFC Championship Game, everyone across the United States has called for a change in the NFL's officiating rules. During the contest between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints, there was a clear missed pass interference call that was missed by the referees.

The outcry has been from fans, governors, owners, and lawyers. The league is under a bunch of pressure to fix that problem. Should they add replay to pass interference calls? It draws the line between subjective and objective calls within a game. How much should replay change the game?

When NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about what should be done, he still seemed wary.

Goodell told Brooke Pryor of the Kansas City Star:

“We will look again at the instant replay… the other complication is that it was a no call. Our coaches and clubs have been resistant about having a replay official or somebody in New York throw a flag when there's no flag.”

Goodell also mentioned to Ryan Kartje of the OC Register that coaches have not been interested in a rule change. Or in adding an additional official to specifically look at these calls. Too much tampering with the content removes the control of the coaches on the game. It becomes a game of random oddity.

The NFL has a lot of pressure to fix this problem moving forward. Even though Goodell seems hesitant to make a significant rule change, perhaps even a playoff change in officiating would help the quality of play.
