Week 18 is finally here and the NFL treats you with two games on Saturday. Both of the games on Saturday have playoff implications. The Denver Broncos host the AFC West Division Champions once again, the Kansas City Chiefs. It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a Chiefs-Broncos prediction and pick.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 11-5 on the season and are coming off of a loss to the NFC North Champs, Cincinnati Bengals. They need a win and a Titans loss on Sunday to earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The good news, they have beaten the Broncos 12 consecutive times. The Chiefs just don't lose divisional games on the road, as it's crazy to think that most of their division losses come at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City comes in as big favorites and will likely be playing their starters to earn that top seed.

The Denver Broncos were eliminated from playoff contention after the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17. They will now try and play spoilers to ruin the Chiefs' chances at the top seed. Quarterback Drew Lock injured his shoulder against the Chargers but seemed to finish the game fine. That is something to keep an eye out for this week as he has been limited, but he is expected to start against the Chiefs.

Why The Chiefs Could Cover The Spread

Kansas City is going to more than likely win this game, the question is by how many. Denver's secondary is dealing with major injury issues and so that will benefit the Chiefs even more. Patrick Mahomes should have no problem finding his targets and putting them in spots to score. Broncos' corner Patrick Surtain II didn't practice Tuesday or Wednesday and is considered questionable for the game. That will be a big loss for the Broncos and the Chiefs can really run on the score because of it. They shouldn't have a problem winning this game by two scores.

The Chiefs are dealing with some injuries themselves but should get tackle Orlando Brown back and healthy. He's been having a great season protecting Mahomes and company. The Chiefs' defense improved this year in almost every category. They shouldn't have a problem shutting down the Broncos' offense after they just scored 13 points against the Chargers.

Why The Broncos Could Cover The Spread

Denver will have a hard time covering this spread if they don't stop the Chiefs' offense. Kansas City will likely score 30+ points and so it will be on Denver's defense to try and not let that happen. With Lock, Javonte Williams, and Melvin Gordon III all limited through Wednesday, the offense will be thin on a short week. The Broncos need to slow the game down and control the run. That will be another big factor for them to give Mahomes less time on offense. Williams and Gordon III are both questionable but should suit up. Denver is 7-9 against the spread this year. With a spread this large, it gives them an opportunity to cover. They will need to play one of their best games of the season to get it done. With the way things are going for them right now, I wouldn't count on it.

Final Chiefs-Broncos Prediction & Pick

The Chiefs are going to try and win this game, clearly. With the direction Denver is heading, I like the Chiefs to cover this spread. If the Chiefs go up big early, we could see them rest starters to save them for the playoffs. I still don't think that would affect the spread.

Final Chiefs-Broncos Prediction & Pick: Chiefs -11.5 (-110)
