The NFL announced a $250 million commitment to programs fighting against racial injustice on Thursday, and a league official hinted at a desire to work with Colin Kaepernick.

But according to Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, there is a team “interested” in potentially signing Kaepernick to play football.

Kaepernick's name has been thrown about quite a bit in light of recent events.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has not played since the 2016 season, in large part due to his decision to kneel during the national anthem in protest of police brutality.

But the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and ensuing social unrest has led many to applaud Kaepernick for his past actions. Commissioner Roger Goodell even apologized for not acknowledging player protests, though he did not mention Kaepernick by name.

Kaepernick held his own private workout this past November with the hopes of landing a deal, though he remained unsigned through the course of the 2019 season.

The Seahawks previously brought Kaepernick in for a look in the summer of 2017 after he opted out of his deal with the Niners. But they elected not to sign him.

It remains to be seen whether Kaepernick will get another shot in the NFL. Although the league seems to be making strides in terms of its approach to player relations and supporting the players' fight against racial disparities, there has always been a sort of hesitancy when it comes to Kap.

That said, if Carroll is to be believed, perhaps Kaepernick can find a path back to the league.
