Why The Blackhawks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Chicago Blackhawks are 0-2-1 in their last three outings and are now without star goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury as they sent him to the Wild at the deadline. They also sold Brandon Hagel and Ryan Carpenter before the deadline. That now leaves Kevin Lankinen and Collin Delia to handle the situations in the net for the Hawks. With that said, we should be able to see Lankinen get the start between the pipes tonight. He's currently 3-8-4 on the season so far with an .889 save percentage and allowing 3.51 goals per game. He'll look to keep the Hawks from drowning for the rest of the season as they look on towards next year.

Why The Ducks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Anaheim Ducks started the year so well and were looking at a playoff spot for so long, but something happened about mid-way through the season where they just started to plummet back down to reality. The Ducks head into this game on a seven-game losing streak and have waved the white flag on the season by selling some top players at the deadline. They shipped off defencemen Jose Manson and Hampus Lindholm for quite the return for the future but also shipped off one of their better players in Rickard Rakell. Tough guy Nicolas Deslauriers was also traded as they brought in Zach Aston-Reese and Dominik Simon, but nothing to really have an impact on the team in the short run.

John Gibson is still starting most of the games in net for Anaheim as his season-long numbers have imploded to a .905 save percentage and allowing 3.09 goals against per game. He's looking to just get through the rest of this season as it starts here against the Blackhawks tonight.

Final Blackhawks-Ducks Prediction & Pick

Both of these teams are just playing for pride at this point, just trying to get through the rest of the season without any major hiccups. Both goaltenders in this matchup are not playing very well as of late and this game could go either way, especially with the losing streaks that these teams are both on. Talent-wise, the Blackhawks have a better front line, but the Ducks are much younger and just play to have fun. Because of that, give me over 6 total goals tonight. This could be either very low scoring or very high scoring, and I'm going to go with the latter.

Final Blackhawks-Ducks Prediction and Pick: Over 6 (-110)
