The Philidelphia Flyers sit in 7th place in the Metropolitan Divison as they look to end their five-game losing streak at home against the Central Division's 3rd place team, the St. Louis Blues. This is the first matchup between these two teams this year and they won't see each other again until mid-late March. It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Blues-Flyers prediction and pick.

This has the makings of being a very exciting matchup!

Why The Blues Can Cover The Spread/Win

The St. Louis Blues are coming off of a huge road win after defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 on Saturday. They have now won three of their last four games and four of their last six games on the road. Most of those victories can be credited to their stellar goaltending in Ville Husso, who has clearly taken over the starting position, as he'll look to get another one tonight against a struggling Flyers team. Husso has been red hot lately, winning nine of his last 11 starts and sporting a .936 save percentage on the year so far. The Blues offense will look to help him out tonight as they want to walk out of Philly with an extra two points to go towards their playoff potential.

Why The Flyers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Flyers play game three of their eight-game homestand, and the second of a back-to-back series after a tough overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in overtime last night. Philadelphia has been one of the worst teams in hockey lately having lost now five straight, and 18 of their last 20 games. They rank 25th in the league for offensive production and 30th in goals against in 5-on-5 scenarios. On top of that, the starting goaltender tonight will be a game-time decision between Carter Hart (questionable with an eye infection), Martin Jones (who started last night and likely won't start two nights in a row), or Kirill Ustimenko (for his first-ever NHL game). No matter which option gets the start tonight, a strong and physical Blues offense will look to take advantage and continuously put the biscuit in the basket.

Final Blues-Flyers Prediction & Pick

The Blues are trending upwards and fighting for a better playoff seeding while the Flyers are in full “tank for Shane Wright” mode and will look to be huge sellers at the trade deadline in a few weeks. The questionable goaltending situation for the Flyers only benefits the Blues even more tonight. I will continue to fade the Flyers until they prove they're actually worth placing a bet on. With that, let's not overthink this and just take the Blues to win in regulation (also known as a 3-Way bet), just to boost the odds a little more into our favor.

Final Blues-Flyers Prediction & Pick: Blues 3-Way Moneyline (-150)
