The two newest teams in the NHL face off against each other tonight as the Vegas Golden Knights head up north to Seattle to take on the Kraken. These newbie teams have already battled each other twice this season, with the Knights coming out on top both times. This Seattle team is what everyone was expecting Vegas to be when they came into the league, so it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out within the next couple of years for the Kraken. It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Golden Knights-Kraken prediction and pick.

Why The Golden Knights Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Vegas Golden Knights came into this season with the expectation that they were going to be one of the top teams in the league, and unfortunately caught the injury bug pretty early on. Now, the Knights are on the outside looking in, as they are just one point behind the Stars for the last wild-card position. If they want to see the postseason, they're going to have to step up their game and start winning. They've been given sympathy this year due to all the injuries, but they're still a great hockey club that is capable of making big waves. Starting goaltender Robin Lehner will find himself on the injury list yet again, meaning Logan Thompson is the likely start for the Knights tonight. He's currently repping a .914 save percentage and allowing 2.89 goals against per game. He'll look to pick up his sixth win in just 10 games played tonight.

Why The Kraken Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Seattle Kraken have been ready to move on to next season very early on. They're an expansion franchise that is doing what everyone expected an expansion franchise to do: rebuild. The Kraken have a good foundation of veterans on the team, but the problem is, their season wasn't very good, scoring just 2.64 goals per game. Backup goaltender Chris Driedger got the start on Monday for the Kraken, so we can expect to see Philipp Grubauer back in the net tonight. He's having a not-so-great year, to say the least, sporting a .889 save percentage and allowing 3.19 goals per game. He'll do his best against a very familiar Golden Knights team tonight.

Final Golden Knights-Kraken Prediction & Pick

This is one of those games where both teams are currently struggling, but let's not overthink the outcome of this one. The Knights are still a very good team, just struggling with injuries at the moment. The Kraken… well, they're a little more of a “they're new and have cool jerseys” kind of team right now. It'll take a little while for the Kraken to become contenders in this league. Again, let's not overthink this and just take the Knights to win. To compensate for some better odds, I'll take them to win in regulation, also known as the 3Way Moneyline bet.
