The Winnipeg Jets will head into Chicago tonight to take on the Blackhawks in this Central Division rivalry matchup. This will be the third time these teams face each other as the series is tied 1-1 so far. While the Blackhawks have somewhat accepted the fact that they're not making playoffs this year, it'll be interesting to see what the Jets do at the trade deadline tomorrow. They still have a chance to push for the wild card spot, but is it too little too late for them? It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Jets-Blackhawks prediction and pick.

Why The Jets Can Cover The Spread/Win

On paper, the Winnipeg Jets have a very deep team. However, this just has not been their year to shine. Kyle Connor is having a career season, but everyone else just isn't living up to their expected standards. With that said, the Jets are just six points out of a playoff spot, so it'll be interesting to see if they throw in the towel on the season and become sellers at the trade deadline, or maybe try and make that push. Either way, it's not a great season for the Jets as they score roughly around three goals per game.

However, the Jets have one of the most talented goaltenders in the league through Connor Hellebuyck, but the defense in front of him hasn't made it easy on the premier netminder. Hellebuyck is sporting a .909 save percentage while allowing 2.99 goals against on the season. It's not a sure thing that he'll get the start tonight, but it's more than likely that he will.

Why The Blackhawks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Chicago Blackhawks are ready to be done with this season as they are in full sell mode after they traded Brandon Hagel to Tampa for a pretty hefty return, in my opinion. The trade deadline is tomorrow afternoon, so it'll be interesting to see if they can make a few more moves to sell players before then. Offensively, the Hawks have been brutal, averaging 2.63 goals per game, which is far below the league average. However, their defense has been better than one would expect, allowing the ninth-most goals against (3.41).

While it's not much, most of that defensive “success,” if you will, can be credited towards their goaltending in future Hall of Famer Marc-Andre Fleury. He's averaging 2.90 goals against this season with a .909 save percentage. It's unclear if he'll get the start tonight, but if he does, he'll look to try and get another win under his belt before a very possible trade happens.

Final Jets-Blackhawks Prediction & Pick

This is one of those games where anything can happen at any time. Winnipeg has proved that they can win on the road, as they are 12-12-8, while Chicago is still below .500 in their own barn. The Hawks are pretty much done with the season at this point, so while I still expect them to be competitive, I don't think they'll be winning very many more games through the rest of the season. Give me the Jets Moneyline tonight where a win here just might give them hope for a playoff run.
