The St. Louis Blues will be hosting the first-year expansion team from Seattle tonight, the Kraken. These teams have played each other two other teams this season and St. Louis won both matchups. The Blues are looking to make a deep playoff push, winning four out of their last five games, while the Kraken are just trying to spoil things for the rest of the league at this point. With that, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Kraken-Blues prediction and pick.

Why The Kraken Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Seattle Kraken have spent their rookie franchise season in an immediate rebuild phase. Everyone thought they would be the next Vegas Golden Knights, which they still can be, just not right away, and it shows. The Kraken have struggled on both ends of the ice, scoring just 2.61 goals per game and giving up 3.49 per game. They are one of the worst teams in the league this year, but they're still new, give them time to properly rebuild, and maybe we'll see them contending for playoffs a few years from now. Goaltending has been a massive concern for the Kraken as starter Philipp Grubauer is likely to get the start tonight, repping a save percentage of .888 while allowing 3.19 goals against per game. He'll look to step it up on the road tonight against a hot Blues team.

Why The Blues Can Cover The Spread/Win

The St. Louis Blues are finally back to winning games lately, going 4-0-1 in their last 5 games. There was a small stretch there in March where Blues fans got a little worried about their playoff positioning, but they are firmly in third place for now, and just three points behind the Wild for home-ice advantage. The Blues score 3.59 goals per game, the fifth-best in the league, and have done a great job keeping it out of the net, thanks to their goaltending. Speaking of which, Ville Husso is likely to get the start in tonight's game, but it's not official as of yet. He's averaging a .923 save percentage while allowing 2.41 goals against per game. He'll look to stay hot and get another win against the Kraken tonight.

Final Kraken-Blues Prediction & Pick

It is no secret that the Blues are a much better team than the Kraken. Seattle is trying their best, and I give them credit for coming out and competing every night, but let's face it, the Blues are going to win this game. I'm not sure who will be in net for the Blues, but I also don't really think it will matter. Just to be safe, give me the classic 3Way Moneyline bet for the Blues, forcing them to win in regulation, but I don't think that will really be a problem.
