The Nashville Predators will play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight for a fairly good matchup. This will be the second meeting between these teams this year as the Maple Leafs won the first matchup back in November. The Maple Leafs are currently third in the Atlantic Division while the Predators are in fourth in the Central Division. It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Maple Leafs-Predators prediction and pick.

Why The Maple Leafs Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Toronto Maple Leafs enter this contest in the midst of a massive goaltending problem. Star netminder Jack Campbell will be out for at least another week or so with a rib injury, and backup Petr Mrazek simply hasn't been good this year. But no need to fear, the Leafs have found new life in Erik Kallgren, who is the confirmed starter tonight. Over his two starts this season, he's 2-0 with a .972 save percentage. Of course, this number isn't sustainable, but confidence and momentum are sometimes all you need to win games. Superstar Auston Matthews will be coming back from his suspension tonight as he'll look to help out his goaltending with a few goals, per usual.

Why The Predators Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Nashville Predators are coming into this game looking to bounce back after a loss to the Flyers on Thursday. The Predators are also looking for a good performance out of their Vezina Trophy candidate tonight in Juuse Saros. He's having a fantastic year as he's sporting a .923 save percentage and allowing 2.46 goals against per game. However, while playing on home ice, Saros' save percentage shoots up to a .931 percent, and in eight of his last 10 home starts, only six or fewer goals have been scored on him. Saros benefits from having a solid defense in front of him and hopes that his offense can do some damage tonight to give them a much-needed win.

Final Maple Leafs-Predators Prediction & Pick

This is a very tough matchup to pick from as both of these teams have very good offenses but are going up against two hot goaltenders. With that said, I'm kind of leaning towards Nashville to walk away with a win tonight. Toronto's goalie is still new to the league, with only two starts under his belt. I think the Predators come onto home ice and shut down the Leafs tonight, but it'll be a very close matchup. Give me the Predators Moneyline at home.
