Why The Penguins Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Pittsburgh Penguins are heading into this game on the second half of a back-to-back set after yesterday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets. After catching a hot streak mid-way through the season, the Penguins are now just 11-10 against the spread over their last 21 games. Since star goaltender Tristan Jarry got the start last night, we should expect to see Casey DeSmith in between the pipes for the Penguins tonight. He's sporting a ,904 save percentage while allowing 2.99 goals against per game so far on the season. He'll look to put in yet another great effort for the Pens as the Sabres will try to finish out their season on a high note.

Why The Sabres Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Buffalo Sabres enter this contest with two days of rest under their belt and will look to keep their mini-heat streak going as they have won four of their last five games. In fact, in their last nine games, the Sabres are 6-3 straight up and against the spread. Defending the home crease tonight for the Sabres will be Craig Anderson, as he has been playing well at home lately. In his last nine home starts, Anderson is 6-3 with a .923 save percentage. However, throughout the course of the season, Anderson is sporting a .904 save percentage while allowing 3.06 goals against per game. He'll look to stay hot at home as they try to shut down a powerful Penguins team tonight.

Final Penguins-Sabres Prediction & Pick

The Sabres have been a semi-hot team lately and come into this game well-rested, while the Penguins are playing their third game in four days. The price for the Sabres to cover the spread is just too low (relatively speaking) for me to pass up in this opportunity, especially on home ice. I don't love either goalie that's starting tonight, but give me the Sabres +1.5 while they're at home.

Final Penguins-Sabres Prediction and Pick: Sabres +1.5 (-140)
