There is yet to be a finality with regards to Novak Djokovic's participation in the upcoming 2022 Australian Open in Melbourne. Although a Federal Circuit Court Judge has reinstated the world no. 1 men's tennis player's visa, there is still the possibility that that reinstatement would get canceled.

Novak Djokovic has also issued a controversial admission before a true conclusion to this saga is even reached, saying that the travel document he presented to Australian border officials upon his arrival last week had false information on it, (h/t Yahoo! News).

“On the issue of my travel declaration, this was submitted by my support team on my behalf – as I told immigration officials on my arrival – and my agent sincerely apologizes for the administrative mistake in ticking the incorrect box about my previous travel before coming to Australia,” Djokovic wrote in the statement.

“This was human error and certainly not deliberate,” he added. “We are living in challenging times in a pandemic and sometimes these mistakes can occur.”

This is not a good look on Novak Djokovic, though, he's stated that the mistake was not made with the intent to fool travel officials in Australia.

For now, Novak Djokovic is trending towards an appearance at the Australian Open, where he will look to capture his 10th Norman Brookes Trophy. A win in Melbourne would also break his tie with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most Grand Slam men's singles titles in history.
