Serbia's state prosecutors on Wednesday rejected suggestions that Novak Djokovic used a fake positive test for COVID-19 to try to enter Australia and compete in the Australian Open.

Serbia state prosecutors rejected the allegations that Novak Djokovic used a fake COVID-19 test in order to try to compete in the Australian Open.

The country's prosecution office said they had received a “request for criminal proceedings” against two individuals who seemed to have forged two PCR certificates, which were used by the Serbian tennis star during his application for an exemption.

Djokovic seemingly pulled out all of the stops in an attempt to compete in the Australian Open, though this response from prosecutors seems to rule out the possibility that he used a fake COVID-19 test.

The response to Novak Djokovic's COVID test allegations, and the fact that the tennis star is set to meet with the Serbian President on Thursday, indicate that this story isn't going away anytime soon, even though the Australian Open is complete.
