Denver Nuggets forward Juancho Hernangomez starred for Spain in their dominant 91-50 win over Romania in EuroBasket, per Eurohoops.net.

With Pau Gasol rested, Juancho grabbed his opportunity to shine as he put up a team-high 18 points (7-of-15 shooting) and 12 rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench to help Spain remain perfect in group play.

Hernangomez is having a very strong showing in his very first EuroBasket tournament. Juancho is averaging 12.7 points, second on the team behind Gasol, and 8.3 rebounds, which is also second behind his brother Willy.

The versatile Hernangomez got to play minutes at power forward for the first time in the tournament against Romania with Gasol out of the lineup. But when Pau Gasol returns, Juancho will slide back down to small forward and play more on the perimeter.

Juancho Hernangomez figures to be an ideal power forward in the modern NBA thanks to his shooting, athleticism, and rebounding. However, playing backup small forward will likely be more of his role on the Nuggets for the upcoming NBA season with Paul Millsap using up the bulk of the minutes at the position and the team lacking clear options behind Wilson Chandler.
