Denver Nuggets forward Paul Millsap is slated to get a second opinion after being diagnosed with a left wrist ligament injury, stemming from his Sunday night outing against the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Chris Dempsey of Nuggets.com.

Under his previous diagnosis it could sideline him for two-to-three months if he chooses surgery, which could set his return until after the All-Star break by opting to go under the knife.

Millsap will seek additional consultation and explore non-surgical options before making a decision on his injured wrist. For now, head coach Mike Malone will have a tough decision on his hands after returning from a one-game suspension from that very Lakers game.

The Nuggets made short work of the Sacramento Kings on Monday with Kenneth Faried at the power forward position, but were without Wilson Chandler, who has played comfortably at either forward spot during his stay in Denver.

“I told our team this morning, it’s unfortunate anytime any player goes down,” said Malone. “But that injury is not going to define us or our season. We are going to prepare, to work, to fight and to compete.”

The man at the helm is yet to make a decision on who will start in place of Millsap tonight against the Houston Rockets, but given Faried failing to log more than six points in any of his prior six games, including Monday's start, he's likely to roll with Chandler at the four and bring Will Barton to start at small forward in hopes to give his team a better chance to keep up offensively.
