The Edmonton Oilers made a loud statement in Game 3 against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night, marching into the Staples Center and securing a huge 8-2 win to take a 2-1 series lead. Everyone got in on the action, including none other than Connor McDavid.

The superstar had two assists in the game, including a beautiful setup for Leon Draisatl in the first period. McDavid spoke out following the victory about what he loved most about this fantastic performance from the Oilers.

Via The Canadian Press:

That’s all that matters this time of year, winning” he said. “It doesn’t really matter how it looks or what happens. I think we’ve done a good job of playing well, playing hard, we’ve been physical. They kind of pushed back today and I thought we responded well.”

The Oilers have now outscored the Kings 14-2 across the last two games, also beating them 6-0 in Edmonton on Wednesday. They were up 5-0 on Friday and LA got two goals back, but Jay Woodcroft's group responded with authority, scoring another three.

Evander Kane netted a hat-trick in Game 3, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored twice late in the third period to seal the deal. Connor McDavid and the Oilers will be looking to take a 3-1 stranglehold on Sunday in Game 4 and build off the momentum.
